ADHD Assessment

Comprising of 1 to 2 face to face appointments and 1 school observation to gain an understanding of your child’s cognitive and executive functioning skills.

An ADHD assessment is an exploration of ADHD features only and does not provide your child with a diagnosis. A Paediatrician is required to formalise a diagnosis of ADHD with the information provided from the assessment.

Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessment

Comprising of 2 to 3 face to face appointments and 1 school observation to gain an understanding of your child’s social communication, reciprocal social interaction and patterns of behaviour.

An autism spectrum disorder assessment is an exploration of autistic features only and does not provide your child with a diagnosis. A Paediatrician is required to formalise a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder with the information provided from the assessment.

Cognitive Assessment

Comprising one face-to-face appointment to gain an understanding of your child’s cognitive strengths and challenges. We currently offer cognitive assessments for children over 6 years of age.

Cognitive assessments can be useful for identifying giftedness, intellectual disabilities, and providing information to schools for transitions from kindergarten to primary school.

Educational Assessment

Comprising two face-to-face appointments to gain an understanding of your child’s cognitive and academic strengths and challenges.

Educational assessments aim to identify academic strengths and challenges, and provide specific recommendations to support young people in the classroom.

Specific Learning Disorder Assessment

Comprising of two to three face to face appointments and teacher/tutor consultations to gain an understanding of your child’s differences related to learning.

Specific Learning Disorder (SLD) assessments aim to identify whether an SLD is present, give a formalised diagnosis, and provide recommendations to support young people in the classroom.

Parent Consultation

Parent consultations provide parents and guardians with the opportunity to discuss the assessment process, therapy pathways, and the NDIS without the commitment of an assessment.

Counselling

Counselling or therapy is available via Telehealth for adolescents.

Professional Development

Professional development is available for teachers, educators, and allied health professionals. Topics include identifying children in need of an assessment, when and how to speak to families about an assessment for their child, making referrals and assessment pathways, and recommendations to support children in the classroom.

Supervision for Psychologists

Supervision is available for early career psychologists.

Assessment Process

Make a referral to Enlightened Minds Psychology Assessments by contacting us via email at admin@enlightenedmindspsych.com.au. A referral can be made by your Paediatrician, GP, or yourself.

Step 1

After a referral is made, our team will be in contact with you to organise an intake appointment. During this intake appointment our Psychologist will gain background information to help determine what assessment is best suited to your child’s needs. In addition, all other appointments, including assessment and feedback appointments, will be organised.

Step 2

The next step in the process is completing the face to face assessment(s). The assessment will comprise of 1 to 3 face to face appointments depending on your child’s individual needs. All appointments will take place at 11/322 Mountain Highway, Wantirna, 3152 located inside Forte School of Music.

Step 3

After the face to face appointment(s) has been completed the Psychologist will examine all information gathered and package it into a report.

Step 4

At the conclusion of the face to face appointments there will be a feedback session with yourself and the Psychologist to discuss the results of the assessment. You will receive a comprehensive report with recommendations on how to best support your child at home and school.
